Ajman and its eponymous capital remain amongst the more off-the-beaten-track destinations in the UAE, which is probably why they’ve inspired a loyal following of travellers and ex-pats, who come in search of shiny Persian beachfronts and bustling seaside proms in lieu of big business infrastructure, towering skyscrapers and the like. That said, investment has flooded this region in recent years too, with a vast new shopping complex now dominating the town centre and a booming luxury hotel scene to match. Ajman tour guides will however still usually point visitors first to their famed metropolitan beach, where locals cluster on the sun loungers, strolling along the Corniche. Then it’s on to the attractions of the town, from the Ajman Museum of regional history, to the bustling fish market and the earthy Iranian souk.
