Kabale is a small yet popular tourist destination located in Western Uganda. Known as the 'chief town' of the Kabale District it is one of the most populated cities in the district, which is in fact, named after the town. From the city, visitors can take the roads to the Democratic Republic of the Congo or over to the nearby Rwandan town of Ruhengeri. If you do plan a getaway to the lovely Lake Bunyoni, ask your Kabale tour guide to arrange a 4-wheel drive for the steep drive. The major tourist attractions for the town of Kabale are the mountain hiking trails and the promise of seeing the famed mountain gorillas. The town is a major stopping point on the way to the national parks where the highly endangered mountain gorillas reside - Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Aside from the allure of gorillas, there are trails to hike, stunning scenery to take in, cultural food and flare to enjoy, and an amazing way of life to enjoy in the quaint town of Kabale, Uganda.
