Antonella Palma
My boyfriend Ben took me to Rome last year as a birthday present which in itself was a wonderful treat....But while there he'd also arranged some special surprises - one of which was a private guided walking tour of Rome on the Saturday. We'd gone in September so the weather Gods smiled on us and it was azure blue skies and sunshiney hot all day. I was mid way through a hissy fit outside the train station when we met Antonella because I couldn't understand why Ben was making me stand and wait when I wanted to get inside the Colluseum!! I then found out, it was because we were waiting for Antonella and on arrival she was the epitome of casual Italian glamour and incredibly warm, kind and welcoming - an excellent start :-) Antonella's passion and enthusiasm for Rome and her country is quite simply breath taking and she draws you right in to her heart and to the soul of Rome which is something money just cannot buy. Her knowledge of Rome is astounding and she takes you to the most secret and interesting places you could never find on your own. I was worried about having to map read and us having to navigate all around Rome and ALL the stress and hassle of that was vanished as we followed Antonella around her home town and listened intently to her stories and facts. Lunchtime was more like breaking bread with an old childhood friend and we shared plates of delicious food and talked like we'd known each other for decades. I cannot thank Ben enough for booking Antonella - it was a total diamond day and one I will never forget. I cannot thank Antonella enough for her amazing service, professionalism, dedication, customer service, knowledge, skill, humour and for encouraging us to be "romantic" ;-) She also was very understanding and gentle when I burst into tears on rounding the corner and seeing the Trevi fountain for the first time and for fulfilling a childhood dream. I was overcome with emotion and happiness and rather than making me feel like a fool she said it made her feel even more proud to be from such a wonderful city :-) Please DO NOT leave Rome without spending time with Antonella. Ciao, Louisa xx
