Praveen Mendis

My wife and I have been touring Sri Lanka with Praveen for around a week covering both cities and the countryside. Throughout the trip Praveen has been extremely helpful both with practical matters (buying SIM cards, recommending restaurants, finding reasonably priced stores etc) and his outstanding capacities as a guide & chauffeur. His knowledge of Sri Lanka's history, sights as well as hidden places along the roadside and perfect photo opportunities come with very smooth driving and an extremely pleasant personality. His English communication skills are excellent too - not only was there complete word-by-word understanding but rather a comprehensive one including humor and mood - meaning you could spend a great time with Praveen not only as a guide but also a formidable travel companion and furthermore - you didn't have to spell out your opinion or needs - he would get you between the lines right away and see to things. Last but not least, Praveen posses an extremely rare skill in South Asia: Photography. No worrying about taking selfies or asking strangers to take photos (who are likely to cut of your heads or the monument behind you) - he can also see to that. All in all - Praveen provided us with an outstanding experience in Sri Lanka - it's due to him that we perceived the country not only as "great" but really "awesome".
