Your journey starts once you meet your guide at the Avlabari Metro Station entrance.Enjoy a pleasant walk through the old street to Metekhi Church.From there, you will continue to explore the city and hear about the history and origins of Tbilisi.Walking through the old Shardeni Street, you will discover an open-air market, Sioni Church, and the unique Clock Tower of the Puppet Theatre.
Continue onto the Anchiskhati Church and over the Bridge of Peace to reach Rike Park.Here, enjoy the opportunity to travel by cable car and get to the great monument of the Mother of Georgia.Then, descend from the mountain through the narrow streets to the Narikala Fortress.You can enjoy magnificent views from the fortress and take memorable photographs of the old part of Tbilisi: Metekhi Church, the Monument of Vakhtang Gorgasali, and the sulfur baths district.After you visit the sulfur baths district, you will walk to the waterfall in the city's center.

Metekhi Cathedral

Virgin Mary Metekhi church is located on the cliff plateau's left bank of the river, Mtkvari.The first church in this place was probably built by Vakhtang Gorgasali, symbolically resembling the church built on virgin Mary's tomb in Gethsemane's garden in Jerusalem.According to the legend, the former catholicos Kirion transferred the saint Shushanik to this church in the 7th century.

Monument of King Vakhtang Gorgasali

Vakhtang I Gorgasali, of the Chosroid dynasty, was a king of Iberia, natively known as Kartli, in the second half of the 5th and first quarter of the 6th century.Ivane Javakhishvili assigns to Vakhtang's rule the dates c.449–502, while Cyril Toumanoff suggests 447–522.Dating Vakhtang's reign is problematic.With the alliance with the Byzantine Empire, he led his people into a lengthy struggle against Sasanian-Iranian hegemony, which ended in Vakhtang's defeat and the weakening of the kingdom of Iberia.Tradition also ascribes his reorganization of the Georgian Orthodox Church and the foundation of Tbilisi, Georgia's modern capital.

Rike Park

Rike park is considered to be the youngest recreational area in Tbilisi.It is situated on the left bank of the river Kura (Mtkvari) and has already become a popular place for both local and international visitors, especially families, and in summer.The Rike park is relatively easy to find, as its main entrance is right from the beautiful pedestrian ‘Bridge of Peace.’ The park hosts numerous entertainment facilities like singing and dancing fountains, artificial climbing walls, a children’s maze, mega-chess boards, footpaths, and quiet corners.The start point of a newly opened cable car that takes visitors up to Narikala fortress is located in the Rike park and several fancy bars and restaurants.

The Bridge of Peace

Bridge of Peace is the attraction one wouldn’t want to miss in Tbilisi.A pedestrian glass and steel bridge in a bow-shaped design sits over the Mtkvari (Kura) river in the Georgian capital.It was officially opened in May 2010.The bridge was brought to Georgia from Italy in 200 unassembled components.The bridge is 156 meters long and has more than 10 000 LED bulbs built-in that are switched on daily 90 minutes before sunset.

Rezo Gabriadze Marionette Theater

In 2010 Rezo Gabriadze built a unique clock tower next to the marionette theatre in Tbilisi's old town.An angel comes out with a small hammer to ring the bell every hour.There is a small puppet theatre inside the tower, and twice a day, at 12:00 and 19:00, you can see a show – "The Circle of Life." Rezo decorated the building with hundreds of tiles, which he designed himself, and then it instantly became a prominent architectural attraction in Tbilisi.People often call it the Tower with a clock or The Tower with an angel.

Anchiskhati Basilica

In the historical district, in upper Kala, on Shavteli street, the Anchiskhati basilica is located; the church dates back to the 6th century.According to historical sources, it was constructed by Dachi Ujarmeli ( from Ujarma).It bears the name of the Virgin Mary’s Birth.The name Anchiskhati was given to it a little bit later.When Peter Meskhi moved the image of Christ not made by hand from the Anchi church to this one in 1675, Peter was granted the position of pastor by the Catholicon Domenici.From this day on, the Meskhishvilis were pastors of the church.The son of Peter- Alex is the founder of the calligraphers’ dynasty called the Aleximaskhishvilis.

Kartvlis Deda (Mother of a Georgian), erroneously known as Kartlis Deda, is a monument in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi, which has become a city symbol.The statue was erected on the top of Sololaki hill in 1958, the year Tbilisi celebrated its 1500th anniversary.Prominent Georgian sculptor Elguja Amashukeli designed the twenty-meter aluminum figure of a woman in a Georgian national dress.She symbolizes the Georgian national character: in her left hand, she holds a bowl of wine to greet those who come as friends, and in her right hand is a sword for those who come as enemies.
