Morning:
- 7:00 AM - Pickup from Your Accommodation: Your day begins with an early pickup from your hotel or accommodation in either Moshi or Arusha. You’ll be greeted by your friendly, knowledgeable tour guide who will provide insights into the day's itinerary and local highlights during your drive. The journey to Materuni Village is an exciting one, with beautiful views of the countryside and Mount Kilimanjaro.
- Scenic Drive to Materuni Village: As you head toward Materuni, enjoy the relaxing scenic drive, passing by rural villages, fertile lands, and forests that show off the beauty of Tanzania’s landscapes. Your guide will point out key features and landmarks along the way, setting the stage for the adventure ahead.
- Arrival at Materuni Village – Coffee Plantation Tour: Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed by the villagers, and the tour of Materuni’s coffee plantations begins.
- Walk through rows of lush coffee plants and learn how the coffee beans are cultivated, harvested, and processed into the coffee we enjoy. This is your chance to gain an in-depth understanding of Tanzania’s world-class coffee industry. You will even get to try your hand at picking ripe coffee cherries, seeing firsthand the care and attention that goes into every step of the coffee-making process.
- Traditional Coffee Roasting and Brewing Experience: After exploring the coffee farm, join the villagers for an authentic coffee roasting session. Watch as freshly picked coffee beans are roasted over an open fire and ground by hand. Once roasted, your guide will demonstrate the traditional brewing methods. - Hike to Materuni Waterfalls: After lunch, it's time to begin the hike to Materuni Waterfalls, located just a short distance from the village. This picturesque waterfall is one of the area’s most famous natural attractions, and the hike to it is just as beautiful as the destination itself. The trail winds through the lush tropical forest, where you’ll be surrounded by dense vegetation, colorful birds, and the distant sound of rushing water.
- As you walk along the well-maintained trail, the views of Mount Kilimanjaro peeking through the trees add a magical touch to the experience. The hike is moderate in difficulty, making it suitable for most fitness levels, and takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes to reach the falls.
- Waterfall Exploration and Swimming: Upon reaching the Materuni Waterfalls, you’ll be treated to a breathtaking sight: a powerful cascade of water flowing from high up the mountain, crashing into a serene pool below. Take time to marvel at the beauty of the falls and its natural surroundings.
