Embark upon a 3-day journey to Murchison Falls National Park, where adventure meets breathtaking landscapes. Begin with a scenic drive from Kampala, stopping for optional rhino tracking before witnessing the powerful Murchison Falls. Experience thrilling game drives, spotting lions, elephants, and giraffes, followed by a serene boat safari on the Nile, home to hippos and crocodiles. Hike to the top of the falls for panoramic views and enjoy cozy lodge stays under the African sky.

Itinerary

Day 1: Travel to Murchison Falls & Top of the Falls Visit
- 5:00 AM – Depart from Kampala/Entebbe, driving through the scenic countryside.
- 9:30 AM – Optional stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking (1.5–2 hours).
- 12:30 PM – Lunch en route (Masindi or at a selected stop).
- 2:30 PM – Enter Murchison Falls National Park and drive to Top of the Falls for breathtaking views.
- 5:00 PM – Transfer to your lodge for check-in and relaxation.
- 7:00 PM – Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 2: Game Drive & Nile Boat Safari
- 6:00 AM – Early breakfast at the lodge.
- 6:30 AM – Morning game drive in the northern sector, spotting:
- Lions, elephants, giraffes, buffalos, and more.
- 10:30 AM – Return to the lodge for late breakfast and relaxation.
- 2:00 PM – Boat safari on the Nile to the base of Murchison Falls, with sightings of:
- Hippos, crocodiles, and birdlife.
- 4:30 PM – Optional hike to the top of the falls for panoramic views.
- 6:00 PM – Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Final Safari & Return to Kampala/Entebbe
- 6:30 AM – Optional morning game drive or nature walk for more wildlife encounters.
- 8:30 AM – Breakfast and checkout from the lodge.
- 10:00 AM – Begin the return journey to Kampala/Entebbe.
- 1:00 PM – Lunch en route (Masindi or another stop).

Know Before You Go

1. Entry Requirements

A valid passport (with at least 6 months before expiry) is required.

Most travelers need a Uganda visa, which can be obtained online via the Uganda eVisa portal.

A yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry into Uganda.

2. Best Time to Visit

Dry Season (December–February & June–September): Best for game drives and wildlife viewing as animals gather around water sources.

Wet Season (March–May & October–November): Fewer tourists, but some roads can be muddy, and game drives may be challenging.

3. Health & Safety

Malaria risk: Uganda is a malaria-prone country, so take anti-malarial medication and use insect repellent.

Stay hydrated and use sunscreen to protect against the heat.

Follow the guide’s instructions during game drives, boat cruises, and rhino tracking for safety.

4. Safari Experience & Expectations

Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed, as animals roam freely in the wild. However, chances of spotting the Big Five (lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and rhinos) are high.

Early morning game drives offer the best chances to see predators like lions and leopards.

Boat safaris provide close-up views of hippos, crocodiles, and birds along the Nile.

5. Accommodation & Meals

Lodges range from budget, mid-range, to luxury, with varying amenities.

Meals are included, but inform your tour operator in advance about dietary restrictions (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc.).

Electricity may be limited in some lodges, especially in budget accommodations.

6. Transportation & Road Conditions

The journey from Kampala/Entebbe to Murchison Falls takes 5–6 hours by road.

Roads inside the park can be rough and dusty, so a 4x4 safari vehicle is used.

Expect long hours of driving, so pack snacks, water, and entertainment.

7. Additional Costs & Optional Activities

Drinks (alcoholic & soft drinks) are not included in most meal plans.

Optional activities like chimp trekking, cultural visits, or hot air balloon safaris can be arranged at an extra cost.

Tips for guides, drivers, and hotel staff are not included but are appreciated.

8. Booking & Payment

Advance booking is recommended, especially during peak seasons (June–September & December–February).

Many tour operators require a deposit to confirm the booking, with full payment before departure.
