Description
Embark on a 2-day excursion to Tarangire National Park, often called the "small Serengeti," is one of Tanzania's hidden gems along the Northern circuit. Unfortunately, it's often overlooked, but that’s what makes it even more special. The park is renowned for its impressive elephant population, iconic baobab trees, and rich wildlife diversity. It’s a fantastic destination for capturing stunning photos or simply enjoying the awe-inspiring presence of the world’s largest land mammals. With plenty of animals in one place, this park offers an incredible opportunity to witness the drama of predator-prey relationships up close.
Itinerary
-
Day 1- Arusha to Tarangire National Park
- We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Arusha for the scenic two-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. As we leave the city behind, you'll witness the transition from Arusha's urban landscape to vast open plains and charming Maasai villages.
- Once inside the park, you'll be greeted by the sight of the Tarangire River, surrounded by acacia and baobab trees, where animals roam freely throughout the day.
- During the dry season, thousands of animals from the Maasai Steppe migrate to the Tarangire area in search of water, allowing you to spot a variety of species in a short amount of time. The park is also home to rare and endangered animals like the greater kudu, fringe-eared oryx, and the ashy starling.
- Enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the park’s scenic picnic spots, offering a stunning view of the Tarangire River. Just be cautious with your food—local monkeys may try to steal a snack if you're not careful!
In the late afternoon, we’ll make our way back to Arusha, reflecting on an unforgettable day immersed in nature’s wonders.
