Itinerary

Day 1: Arequipa to Pallarcocha Lake (4743 m)
- At 5 a.m., we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Arequipa for a scenic drive in a private jeep.
- We will head toward the desert, then northwest, passing through the agricultural valley of Majes (600 m), where we’ll make our first stop to visit the Toro Muerto Petroglyphs.
- These ancient carvings, over 1200 years old, depict human figures, animals, and plants on volcanic rocks, surrounded by majestic canyon walls.
- Afterward, we’ll head to the town of Corire for breakfast.
- Next, we’ll visit Qerulpa, known as the small Jurassic Park of Arequipa, where we’ll take a short walk to see dinosaur footprints believed to be from the Jurassic period (100–150 million years ago).
- Continuing through the arid landscape, we’ll ascend to Chuquibamba (3000 m) for a late lunch.
- By 3:00 p.m., we’ll drive uphill to higher altitudes for the first views of Coropuna Peak.

Day 2: Pallarcocha Lake to Base Camp (5583 m)
- After a 7 a.m. breakfast, we’ll pack up camp and drive for about 40 minutes to the starting point of the Coropuna ascent at 5307 m.
- Around 10 a.m., we’ll begin a moderate 2-hour ascent, covering 1.92 km to reach Base Camp at 5583 m.
- The route offers spectacular views, including a panoramic view of Solimana Peak.
- Once we set up camp, lunch will be served, and you’ll have the afternoon free to explore the area, adjusting to the high altitude and gaining confidence for the summit climb.

Day 3: Base Camp to Coropuna Summit (6425 m), Descent to Arequipa
- The day begins at 1 a.m. with a light breakfast.
- After gearing up with crampons, ice axe, harness, and rope, we will start the ascent in the dark, guided by our headlamps.
- The first 4 hours will be spent navigating crevasses, penitentes, and other challenging sections as we head up the east-southeast face.
- Around 5:45 a.m., the sun will rise over a nearby peak, offering breathtaking views.
- After 6-7 hours of climbing, we will reach the summit of Coropuna at 6425 m, where we’ll take in panoramic views of the Andes.
- After a short break, we begin the descent, which will take 3-5 hours. We will then pack up our camp and descend further to meet our jeep for the return trip to Arequipa.
- The journey back to Arequipa takes approximately 7 hours, and we’ll drop off each participant at their hotel.
