Arrival in Kigoma and Transfer to Gombe National Park
- Early Start: You'll need to start early, typically around 6:00 am, to make the most of your day.
- Boat Transfer: The only way to reach Gombe is by boat across Lake Tanganyika. This is usually a motorized boat or a speedboat, and the journey takes about 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on the type of boat and lake conditions.
- Arrival and Registration: Upon arrival at Gombe, you'll register at the park headquarters and be assigned a guide.
Daytime:
- Chimpanzee Trekking: This is the main highlight of your trip. You'll trek into the forest with your guide, following trails and listening for signs of chimpanzees. The trek can vary in length and difficulty depending on the location of the chimpanzees.
- Chimpanzee Viewing: Once you find a group of chimpanzees, you'll have the opportunity to observe them in their natural environment. This can include watching them groom, play, feed, and interact with each other.
- Other Wildlife: While chimpanzees are the main attraction, Gombe is also home to other primates, such as:
