Itinerary
-
Cozy and charming Cefalù
- Meet me at Piazza Colombo and admire the unique beach and the lapis blue sea.
- Walk downtown through little alleys and reach the Lavatoio Medievale, originally built in Middle Ages to allow women do their washing in the fresh water from a spring in the hills at the back of the village. Its quietness makes for a great atmosphere.
- Reach Porta Pescara, one of the entrance gates to the old town framing a unique view over the bay and its scenic sandy beach. By the way, did you know that Cefalù Beach appears in The White Lotus Season Two?
- Step into the little fish might even see some of them returning from fish hunting or selling fresh urchins.
- Visit the UNESCO Heritage Cathedral, one of the masterpieces of Arab-Norman architecture displaying a perfect combination of Ermen's Cove and read the plaques bearing the old fishermen's names; you see some of the most amazing cultural influences from a glorious past.
- Admire the huge and dazzling mosaics portraying Jesus, the Holy Virgin, Saints and Angels and experience Jesus gaze following you from the panel up on the wall to wherever you move around. Absolutely unmissable!
- Finish your tour with a gelato or some pastry at a local café and enjoy passers-by and the cheerful talking of the locals.
