Description
Xunantunich is an ancient Maya site in western Belize approx 70 miles west of Belize City. It is located above the Mopan River, where at its highest temple of El Castillo 130’, one can overlook the Guatemalan town of Melchor De Mencos. Itinerary

Xunantunich Maya Ruin
- Depart for a scenic drive from Belize City, heading due west to the town of San Ignacio, Cayo appx. (82 miles). As you proceed your tour guide will be interpreting the area you’re passing by and also talking about the History of Belize.
- Upon arrival in the parking area, you will have to alight from the vehicle, where you and the vehicle will be boarding the hand-crank ferry that takes you to the other side of the “Mopan River”.
- On the other side, you board back the vehicle that takes you up 1 mile to the parking lot area for you to use the restroom.
- After the room break, you gather together for a site visit at the reserve. Your guide will lead you to and in the reserve, interpreting local flora and fauna of the site trail as well as interpreting structures in situ.
- After touring local lunch and shopping in the area. (App.1 hr).
- After swimming, we depart for your connection to the hotel. Tour appx. (6.5 hrs)
