Itinerary

1. Day 1: Marrakech to Ait Ben Haddou to Ouarzazate to Dades

   • Hotel pick up from Marrakech. 
   • Depart from Marrakech at around 07:00 hrs in an air-conditioned vehicle. 
   • Travelling over the Atlas mountains, reach the first site, Kasbah Ait Benhaddou and explore this historic area when a local guide joins you to guide you around the Kasbah.
   • Following the route, arrive at Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert, and the Moroccan city known for Hollywood movies being located and filmed here. Top Hollywood blockbusters have been filmed in Ouarzazate, including The Gladiator and Game of Thrones.
   • Following the Ouarzazate visit, continue along the route, experiencing the Dades Valley. Once at Dades, go to the guesthouse for the night. The Dades Valley guest house includes private rooms with air-conditioning/heating and private ensuite bathrooms.
   • In the evening, a meal is served. The following morning, breakfast is served.
   • The overnight stopover at Dades valley enables you to have the first experience of clearer skies to witness millions of stars which are usually unseen in urban areas.

2. Day 2: Dades to Tinghir to Merzouga to Erg Chebbi

   • After a traditional Berber breakfast, start your journey towards Erg Chebbi. The route takes you through the Dades gorge and onto Todra and Todra gorge (approx journey time is 2 hours), have a break where a local guide joins us for a walk around the massively impending gorge rising over our heads. 
   • After a walk around the gorge, travel onwards, stopping off for a chance for you to purchase lunch locally. Then travel onwards through Rissani and onto Merzouga (approx 2 hours journey time). The tour usually arrives into Merzouga mid-afternoon and has to be at Merzouga to start the camel trek well in time prior to sunset.
   • Then, meet the Camels and the Camel Trek leader, who will guide you on your Camels through the desert dunes of Erg Chebbi at Sunset to arrive at the Berber desert camp where you will spend the night. 
   • The Camel trek, depending upon the exact route taken, generally lasts for between 1 and a half to 2 hours. Your stay at the Erg Chebbi includes staying in a standard desert camp located in the middle of the desert at Erg Chebbi. 
   • The camps are rather isolated in their location so that you can enjoy the true immensity of the desert and the surrounding dunes.

3. Day 3: Erg Chebbi to Marrakech

   • After breakfast, the camels meet us again for another trek, a sunrise trek through the dunes back to Merzouga, where you meet the vehicle for the day's journey, which returns to Marrakech.
   • We return to Marrakech, arriving at around 18:00hrs or 19:00hrs.
