Itinerary

1. Day 1: Lae to Bulolo District

   The tour will start in Lae, Morobe Province (which is our meeting point) to Bulolo District. We will be traveling in a hired car on the road. The tour will take 3 days on the road. 

   • 8 AM: The meeting point and pick up point will be at Lae City after breakfast. The drive will be 4 hours drive to Bulolo District. 
   • 12 Noon: after a long trip to Bulolo, we arrive in Bulolo and have lunch. Take twenty minutes to settle in your rooms and get refreshed. 
   • 12:20 PM: Small tour around Bulolo town. Thirty minutes of town tour and at 12:50 PM, a nine-minute drive back to the lodge. 
   • 12:59 PM: Arrive at the Pine Lodge. The rest of the hours are for you to get relaxed, settle in, and have time to communicate with friends and family overboard.
   • 7 PM: Have dinner and relax. Rest well because early the next day, the drive will be 4 hours 30 minutes to the mountain range of the Smoked Mummies.

2. Day 2: Bulolo District to the Smoked Mummies Site and back

   It will be 4 hours 30 minutes of travel. There will be two stops with 15 minutes of break time each to stretch, get photos, and relax. After the two stops, we will continue traveling. Have light food because the road will be bumpy and anyone can have car sickness.

   • 7 AM: Breakfast
   • 8 AM: We continue on the tour to Smoked Mummies. 
   • 12:30 PM: Arrive at the mountain range where the Smoked Mummies are kept. 
   • Before we climb to see the mummified bodies, we will have a 40-minute break.
   • 1:10 PM: Climbing begins. Twenty minutes climb to the top of the mountain where they keep the mummified bodies.
   • 1:30 PM: We will be face-to-face with the Mummies. 

   One of the descendants in a traditional costume will introduce everyone to the dead and their ancestors before we say something or take photos.

   • 1:35 PM: Questions can be asked. Photos can be taken but it is forbidden to touch any of the Mummies.
   • After 1 hour 30 minutes with Smoked Mummies, we'll have a twenty-minute walk down to the parked car.
   • 2:50 PM: Finally down to the bottom of the mountain. We will have a nine-minute break for photos with people from the Aseki Tribe.
   • 3 PM: Return to Bulolo Pine Lodge. For another four hours, there will be no stops unless needed.
   • 7 PM: Arrive at Pine Lodge. Have dinner, settle in your rooms, and rest for the night.

3. Day 3: Tour Ends

   • 12 Noon: The next day, we will depart from Pine Lodge, Bulolo, and head to Lae city. It is a four-hour drive.
   • 4 PM: Arrive in Lae City, settle in your rooms, and relax. Get some rest for 2 hours.
   • 7 PM: Dinner time. After dinner, have time for family or friends to chat and update them on your travels and experience.

   The next day, the tour continues up to the Highlands or depart Lae city for Port Moresby.
