Itinerary

1. Day 1: Imlil to Refuge Toubkal

   • Hiking tour starts from Berber village Imlil (1600m). The interesting trail along the noisy Toubkal river offers beautiful views of Imlil valley and Atlas summits as well. 

   • Along the way, there are several lodges with food, sweet snacks and fresh, natural orange juice. Waterfalls, wild mountain goats and an incredible atmosphere will take your breath away.

   • In 5 hours of easy walking, reach refuge Toubkal - a mountain house which has everything that tired mountaineer needs - comfortable rooms, showers and delicious food. 

   • Take a good rest before the ascent to the highest point of North Africa.

2. Day 2: Refuge Toubkal to Toubkal Summit to Imlil

   • Get up early in the morning to avoid the strong African sun.
   • The trail goes right above the Refuge Toubkal; in the beginning, it is very steep, but later, you will forget your pain and enjoy the panorama of western Toubkal massif with interesting rocky peaks.
   • After 2.5 hours, reach Tizi Toubkal, a place where our trail turns left.
   • See the summit, rising proudly above the lake Ifni which lays under eastern Toubkal cliff (possible to visit in another organized tour).
   • In the next 30-minutes, stand by the big iron pyramid on Jbel Toubkal, the summit of the gorgeous Atlas mountain. Our biggest reward will be the magnificent view: Anti-Atlas mountain range, famous Sahara desert, the city of Marrakesh, direction of Atlantic ocean and several lower, but very attractive summits of Atlas: Timesguida, Ras, Akiud, Afella, Tadat.
   • After enjoying the view and taking photos for an everlasting memory, descend back the same way to the refuge Toubkal (1.30 hours).
   • In the house, have a lunch break and then go back down to Imlil (4 hours).
   • In Imlil is possible to buy original Berber souvenirs, and after that, an organized transport back to Marrakesh.
