This 3-day, 2-night rainforest camping tour at the Yanayacu tributary is designed for those who are passionate about experiencing both the rich culture and wildlife of the Amazon while enjoying the adventure of camping in the heart of the jungle. This expedition is packed with our most popular activities, including a visit to Monkey Island, holding anacondas, spotting freshwater dolphins, hiking through the rainforest, piranha fishing, a thrilling night-time caiman excursion, birdwatching, canoe rides, and visits to native Amazonian tribes. Itinerary

Day 1
- Morning departure from Iquitos City by car to arrive at the port town of Nanay (Bellavista), where the Nanay River meets the Amazon River. From there, we will travel by boat downriver for about 70 km (approximately 2 hours). Along the way, you’ll have a great chance of spotting wildlife like caimans, turtles, herons, pink river dolphins, snakes, and many other species of flora and fauna along the riverbanks.
- Our first stop will be Monkey Island, where you will get a unique opportunity to observe and interact with a variety of monkeys in their natural habitat, including sloths, Goeldi’s monkeys, Tamarin monkeys, Capuchin monkeys, Yellow-Handed Titi monkeys, Masked Titi monkeys, Woolly monkeys, Spider monkeys, and more! You will also have the chance to hold large Anacondas, Boas, and interact with the rare Amazonian mata-mata turtle. The island is also home to alligators, turtles, toucans, macaws, and parrots.
- We will then continue our journey to the Yanayacu tributary, where we will set up camp. In the afternoon, we’ll enjoy a dolphin-watching session with the possibility of spotting the pink freshwater dolphins. If we’re lucky, we may even swim with them in the Amazon River.
- At night, we will embark on a nocturnal nature hike, giving us the opportunity to see lizards, snakes, spiders, and possibly monkeys.
- Overnight camping at Yanayacu tributary.

Day 2
- We’ll wake up early to see the sunrise over the Yanayacu tributary, followed by a morning animal observation excursion by boat to spot various types of Amazon wildlife.
- In the afternoon, we will go on a fishing excursion where you’ll have the opportunity to catch piranhas, catfish, and other species of fish.
- Later, we’ll see the impressive Victoria Regia, the largest freshwater aquatic plant in the world. After sunset, we’ll head out on a canoe excursion to spot caimans. You’ll even have the chance to hold, touch, and take photos with the caimans.
- Overnight camping at Yanayacu tributary.

Day 3
- We’ll start the day with an early morning jungle hike, giving us the chance to observe a variety of monkeys, birds, and other wildlife in their natural environment. We’ll also learn about the various Amazonian plants along the way.Afterward, we’ll pack up and head back to Iquitos. On the way, we will visit a local indigenous tribe to learn about their history, customs, and way of life.
- Transfer to the airport or hotel in Iquitos to conclude the tour.
