Itinerary
-
Day 01: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Boumalne Dades
- Pick-up will take place at your hotel or riad in Marrakech.
- You will drive across the High Atlas Mountains, a sub-range of Moroccan Atlas mountains, going through TiziN´Tichka port and reach an altitude of 2260 m(7414.698ft) with stops for panoramic views and taking pictures of the Berber small villages that camouflage in the landscape, then drive to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou(declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986). Famous films have been shot on this spectacular stage, including Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, and Sahara with Penelope Cru. Instantly recognizable as the setting of various Hollywood epics, it’s also a popular backdrop for photo shoots with international fashion magazines and agencies.
- You will walk to the Kasbah to explore its buildings and history. This will be an opportunity for you to take some beautiful pictures from the top hill location of the Kasbah. There will be Free time for lunch in the same village.
- After that, you will drive to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gate of the Sahara.”
- Following lunch at leisure, continue to the Boumalne Dades via the Valley of the Roses.
- Upon arrival at Boumalne Dades, take the back roads through the Dades Canyons, passing stunning rock formations and fortified Kasbahs along the Dades River.
- Continue to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Distance: 310.0 KM = 192.6 MI
-
Day 02: Boumalne Dades – Todra Gorges – Merzouga (Camel Ride)
- After breakfast at your hotel, you will drive through the city of Ouarzazat (Road of 1001 Kasbahs) to the small oasis town of Tinghir. Then, you will continue through the Todgha Gorges, pausing for some free time to walk in the canyons; after that, you will enjoy lunch.
- You will continue driving to Erg Chebbi Dunes to meet your camel caravan.
- Then, on the way to the camp, you will experience the Erg Chebbi dunes, where you will have an opportunity to watch the sunset. Before nightfall, you will arrive at your desert camp and enjoy an authentic Moroccan dinner under the stars or in the restaurant.
- At the same time, your nomad hosts will entertain you around a campfire with the beat of their drums, Jambi and metal castanets.
Distance: 252.3 KM = 156.8 MI
-
Day 03: Merzouga – cc – Cedar Forest – Fes
- After breakfast, you will start your last day to the north through the Tafilalet palm grove, the biggest in the world.
- You´ll see thousands of palm trees along the 20km of road.
- This leads us to the Ziz Valley, a river that flows down from the high Atlas and feeds the palm grove.
- Here, you will make a stop and enjoy a magnificent view of the valley from this high viewpoint.
- Then, in the High Atlas Mountains, you will drive through the “Camel Pass”, 1907 m=6256.56 ft.
- You will make another stop in Midelt, just in the heart of the Atlas, where you´ll have free time for lunch and rest for a while.
- In the afternoon, you will continue our way through the Cedar Woods, where, if we are lucky, we´ll see some monkeys.
- The next place we´ll visit is the city of Ifrane, situated on the northwestern slope of the Middle Atlas at 1630 meters above the water level. Its broad avenues, urban development with perfect cleanliness, the gardens, the green areas, and its architecture make this city look like a Swiss town. Ifrane feels misplaced in Morocco. That is why it is named Moroccan Switzerland, and if that is not enough, it has an important ski resort in Michigan.
- At About 6 pm, we arrive at Fez, transfer to the hotel, and end our services.
Distance: 466.9 KM = 290.1 MI
