Day 01

Meet at Nagoya Station for Departure

• Meeting point: in front of Nagoya Station (MINI STOP convenience store at the back door of BIC CAMERA at Nagoya West Exit) at 8:30.

Day 02

Explore Takayama City and Its Historic Streets

• Recognized as the crown jewel of Gifu, Takayama City is a popular tourist destination surrounded by the scenic alpine countryside of the Japanese Alps and an ideal base from which to explore the Japanese Alps and the surrounding Hida region.
• Sanmachi Street is the heart of Takayama City, with its well-preserved historical buildings attracting tourists from all over the country.
• You can spend time wandering these ancient streets, picking up souvenirs from the dazzling array of handicraft shops, sipping local tea, and enjoying food and beverages such as Wagyu sushi.
• There are many sake breweries in and around Sanmachi Street, and some offer tasting services.
• Miyagawa Morning Market, with a history of over 300 years and continuing in various forms to this day, remains a center for buying and selling fresh produce.
• Every morning, vendors set up their stalls selling local produce and handicrafts.

Visit Shirakawa-go and the White Mountain Observation Deck

• Shirakawa-go is located to the north of Takayama.
• This traditional village is listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
• It is full of pleasant scenery, like a beautiful landscape postcard.
• Visitors can wander among the lush gardens and pools, admiring the flowers, green plants, and carp playing in the water.
• Many traditional Gassho-zukuri residences are open to the public, and some have been converted into hotels.
• The name "Gassho-zukuri" is very vivid.
• It was named because the shape of the roof resembles praying hands.
• Each house is a work of carpenter's ingenuity, built completely without nails, with tightly fitted beams joined together as one.
• The structures are so strong that they have remained standing from the 19th century to the present in this earthquake-prone country.
• Some of the houses are bed and breakfasts where guests can stay.
• Gassho-zukuri Village will make you feel as though you have stepped back into pre-modern Japan.
• Climb to the White Mountain Observation Deck, look out over the village, and feel the passage of time.
