Discovering Puerto Almanza
- We look for the passengers at their accommodations and begin our adventure towards Puerto Almanza, 75 km from Ushuaia.
- We take National Route N°3, where we will observe landscapes combining the Andes mountain range, forests, and peat valleys.
- We continue along it until we reach the junction with alternative route J, which leads to a gravel road.
- On Route J, we have a stop for a few minutes to enjoy a coffee break at Laguna Victoria, located at kilometre 12.
- We will arrive at Brown Bay, where we can see Chile from the front.
- There, Route J forks from Route K. Our route continues along Route K, taking us to the long-awaited town of Puerto Almanza.
- The latter is a small fishing town whose name comes from a sawmill that operated between the 1940s and 1950s.
- Today, Puerto Almanza has an anchorage that receives fishing and tourism boats.
- Artisanal fishermen's activity focuses on extracting crabs and molluscs from the Beagle Channel and fishing for bass.
- Enterprises dedicated to breeding mussels, cholgas, sea urchins, and trout have also been created.
- We will finish with tastings of the area's local cuisine, and after lunch, we will take a relaxed walk to the picturesque Cascada del Duende, which is easily accessible.
- We return to the city of Ushuaia, leaving the passengers in their respective accommodations and ending this journey.
