1. May 01, 2024: Tabin Wildlife Reserve

   • Fly to Lahad Datu via Sandakan or Kota Kinabalu from Kuala Lumpur, then travel 1.5 hours to Tabin Wildlife Reserve. This diverse reserve boasts rugged mountain ranges, deep ravines, and steep-sided river valleys, with Mount Hatton reaching 571 meters as its highest peak. With over 15 peaks exceeding 500 meters and various trails, Tabin offers fantastic birdwatching opportunities, housing over 250 bird species, including Borneo specialities like the Great Argus and Crested Fireback Pheasants.
   • Additionally, visitors may encounter Bornean Gibbons, Orangutans, and Pygmy Elephants.
   • After dinner, embark on a night safari to spot nocturnal wildlife such as Leopard Cats, Civets, Black Giant Flying Squirrels, and Slow Lorises. Rare sightings may include the Sunda Clouded Leopard and various owl species like the Buffy Fish Owl and Barred Eagle Owl.

2. May 02-03, 2024: Tabin Wildlife Reserve

   • During early morning walks, listen for North Bornean Gibbons' calls and spot woodpeckers like the Great Slaty and Crimson-winged. Look for Shamas and Dwarf Kingfishers around the lodge, and explore the dirt road for diverse bird species.
   • In a 4x4, head to the core area to find rare birds like the Helmeted Hornbill and Black-crowned Pitta. Spot various spiderhunters, sunbirds, and trogons, along with raptors like the Changeable Hawk-eagle and White-fronted Falconet.
   • After lunch, choose between a mud volcano trek or an afternoon drive for more sightings. Enjoy a night drive to spot nocturnal wildlife, including Pygmy Elephants, and immerse yourself in Tabin's rich biodiversity.

3. May 04, 2024: Tabin To Danum Valley

   • After breakfast, bird along the road and climb the bird-watching tower before departing Tabin at 10 am for DVFC, a 3-hour journey with lunch en route. Covering 438,000 hectares, DVFC boasts rich biodiversity with over 340 bird species, 124 mammal species, and rare finds like the world's tallest tropical tree discovered in 2019.
   • Flexible itineraries at DVFC offer extensive exploration opportunities via various trails, with chances to encounter all ten of Sabah's primate species, rare creatures like Bornean pygmy elephants and clouded leopards, and common sightings such as mouse deer and sambar deer.
   • Enjoy birdwatching, including endemic species like the Bornean bristlehead, and embark on thrilling night safaris to spot nocturnal wildlife, with increased chances of seeing orangutans during fruiting season.

4. May 05, 2024: Danum Valley

   • Your guide will offer daily options based on your energy levels and interests, with night drives available on a first-come, first-served basis and paid in cash. Well-maintained trails from the lodge allow easy access to the valley's diverse areas, perfect for photography.
   • Early mornings offer a unique perspective from the canopy walkway, ideal for observing birds like hornbills, barbets, and the Bornean bristlehead, as well as primates like orangutans and red-leaf monkeys.
   • Expect sightings of all eight hornbill species, crested fireback, Bornean gibbons, western tarsier, and red giant flying squirrels. Night excursions reveal nocturnal animals such as greater mouse deer, giant flying squirrels, and colugo, with a chance to see slow lorises, western tarsiers, and Wallace's flying frogs. Listen for the Bornean horned frog's distinct call, though spotting it can be challenging.

5. May 06, 2024: Danum Valley To Kinabatangan

   • Morning offers an optional birdwatching session before departing for the Kinabatangan River after breakfast. The Lower Kinabatangan River, Sabah's first RAMSAR site, sustains a rich ecosystem housing orangutans, proboscis monkeys, and ten primate species.
   • Boat-based birding along the river presents opportunities to spot kingfishers, raptors, and numerous hornbill species, including the rare Storm's Stork. Look out for Black-and-yellow Broadbill, Changeable Hawk Eagle, and various kingfishers like Stork-billed and Collared.
   • An optional evening boat ride allows for nocturnal wildlife sightings such as Slow Lorises, Western Tarsiers, Civets, and Mouse Deer, enhancing the overall experience.

6. May 07-08, 2024: Kinabatangan River

   • Experience a serene sunrise on a Kinabatangan River cruise, spotting endangered Storm's Stork and diverse bird species like White-fronted Falconet and Hornbills. Look out for Pygmy Elephants with knowledgeable guides. Return to the lodge to relax or birdwatch.
   • On one day, take a short boat ride to Gomantong Caves, where millions of bats and swiftlets reside.
   • Explore caves and surrounding rainforests for wildlife sightings like blue-headed pandas and orangutans. Witness the spectacular bat exodus at dusk. After dinner, embark on a night river cruise for nocturnal wildlife sightings.

7. May 09, 2024: Kinabatangan To Sepilok Forest Reserve

   • Travel 1.5 hours to Sepilok Nature Lodge and settle in. The reserve includes the Orangutan and Sun bear rehabilitation centres and the Rainforest Discovery Center. Encounter orangutans, tarsiers, and other wildlife.
   • Visit the Orangutan Centre in the afternoon. Gather for dinner and receive a briefing.
   • Optional night walk in the forest for nocturnal wildlife sightings, including Hooded Pitta and Red Giant Flying Squirrel.

8. May 10, 2024: Sepilok Forest Reserve

   • Early morning, visit Rainforest Discovery Centre for birdwatching and mammal watching, looking out for orangutans, squirrels, and tree shrews. Head to Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary after breakfast. Look for copper-throated sunbirds, blue-eared barbets, and rhinoceros Hornbills.
   • Afternoon walks in Sepilok Forest Reserve to spot more bird species. Return to the canopy walkway at dusk to watch Red Giant Flying Squirrels.
   • Dinner at the lodge followed by an optional night walk for nocturnal wildlife sightings like Colugo or Slow Loris.

9. May 11-12, 2024: Kinabalu National Park

   • Today, fly to Kota Kinabalu from Sandakan and drive 2 hours to Kinabalu National Park HQ. Check into a comfortable lodge and embark on afternoon birdwatching. The park boasts diverse habitats and over 4,500 species of flora and fauna, including 326 bird species and numerous mammals.
   • Explore trails in the montane evergreen mossy forest, encountering species like Chestnut-hooded Laughingthrush, Bornean Green Magpie, and Crimson-headed Partridge.
   • Over two days, explore the park's variety of trails, offering encounters with species like Mountain Black Eye and Orange-headed Thrush among 18 Bornean endemics. Enjoy pleasant walks along the road amidst this rich environment.

10. May 13, 2024: Drive Back To Kota Kinabalu

    • We will transfer you to Kota Kinabalu Airport. Take an afternoon flight back to Kuala Lumpur. Our tour ends.
