May 01, 2024: Tabin Wildlife Reserve
- Fly to Lahad Datu via Sandakan or Kota Kinabalu from Kuala Lumpur, then travel 1.5 hours to Tabin Wildlife Reserve. This diverse reserve boasts rugged mountain ranges, deep ravines, and steep-sided river valleys, with Mount Hatton reaching 571 meters as its highest peak. With over 15 peaks exceeding 500 meters and various trails, Tabin offers fantastic birdwatching opportunities, housing over 250 bird species, including Borneo specialities like the Great Argus and Crested Fireback Pheasants.
- Additionally, visitors may encounter Bornean Gibbons, Orangutans, and Pygmy Elephants.

- During early morning walks, listen for North Bornean Gibbons' calls and spot woodpeckers like the Great Slaty and Crimson-winged. Look for Shamas and Dwarf Kingfishers around the lodge, and explore the dirt road for diverse bird species.
- In a 4x4, head to the core area to find rare birds like the Helmeted Hornbill and Black-crowned Pitta. Spot various spiderhunters, sunbirds, and trogons, along with raptors like the Changeable Hawk-eagle and White-fronted Falconet.

- After breakfast, bird along the road and climb the bird-watching tower before departing Tabin at 10 am for DVFC, a 3-hour journey with lunch en route. Covering 438,000 hectares, DVFC boasts rich biodiversity with over 340 bird species, 124 mammal species, and rare finds like the world's tallest tropical tree discovered in 2019.

- Travel 1.5 hours to Sepilok Nature Lodge and settle in. The reserve includes the Orangutan and Sun bear rehabilitation centres and the Rainforest Discovery Center. Encounter orangutans, tarsiers, and other wildlife.
- Visit the Orangutan Centre in the afternoon. Gather for dinner and receive a briefing.
- Optional night walk in the forest for nocturnal wildlife sightings, including Hooded Pitta and Red Giant Flying Squirrel.

May 10, 2024: Sepilok Forest Reserve
