Itinerary

1. Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park

   • Start your day in Kigali, Rwanda’s capital city.
   • Arrange for an early morning pick-up from your hotel or a designated meeting point.
   • The journey from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park takes about 2-3 hours by road, depending on traffic conditions.
   • Enjoy the scenic drive through the beautiful Rwandan countryside, passing by picturesque landscapes and rural villages.
   • Upon arrival at Volcanoes National Park, check in at your lodge or accommodation.
   • Take some time to relax and settle in, enjoying the natural surroundings and fresh mountain air.
   • In the afternoon, you can explore the nearby area on a short nature walk or visit the local communities for cultural experiences.
   • Spend the evening at your leisure, perhaps enjoying a delicious dinner at the lodge and preparing for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure.

2. Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Return to Kigali

   • Wake up early and have a hearty breakfast at your lodge.
   • Head to the Volcanoes National Park Headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking rules and regulations.
   • You will be assigned to a gorilla family group and a professional guide who will lead you during the trek.
   • Embark on an incredible gorilla trekking experience, hiking through the lush rainforest in search of the mountain gorillas.
   • The duration of the trek can vary, ranging from 1 to 4 hours, depending on the location of the gorilla family you are assigned to.
   • Once you find the gorillas, you’ll have an unforgettable hour to observe and photograph them at a close distance.
   • After the gorilla encounter, trek back to the park headquarters and receive your gorilla trekking certificate.
   • Meet our driver/guide and transfer back to Kigali, bidding farewell to Volcanoes National Park.
   • Arrive in Kigali in the late afternoon or early evening, where you can either continue your journey or spend the night in the city.
