Sightseeing Tour of Zagora
Begin this Moroccan desert tour from the hotel or the airport with a drive along the long palm tree oasis in the Draa Valley.
Visit Kasbah Tamnougalt, a village in the Draa River, and discover a famous Kasbah.
Head to the village of Amazrou and visit the former Jewish Quarter where a mosque now stands.
Take a camel excursion across the Dunes of Tinfo and visit the old Kasbah Ait Lkaid in the village of Tamegroute. At the end of the main road, find the famous road sign to Timbuktu that reads “52 jours”, which means it's 52 hours away by camel!
The Dunes of Tinfo are famous for being able to heal rheumatoid arthritis. Ask the Moroccan guide to be buried in the sand from head to toe for a 20-minute spa-like experience!
Enjoy lunch at a local Kasbah restaurant in the town of Zagora, or learn how to bake bread and have lunch with a Moroccan family in a Berber Village.
Continue on toward Tamegroute, a village located in the heart of Zagora. See a Koranic library here that once held 40,000 book volumes from the theological college dating back to the 11th-century. The library contains a collection of illuminated Korans, the oldest of which are written on gazelle skins.
Take time out to learn firsthand how the pottery is made and glazed and even try spinning it on a local wheel by hand.
Return to the hotel, having enjoyed an unforgettable day.
