Itinerary

1. Contemporary Rome, Street Art In San Paolo

   • The San Paolo neighbourhood (close to the Basilica) is an area to explore. We will do a "treasure hunt" because the murals are scattered all around, but the artists' names, like Borondo, Gaia, JDL, and my favourite, BLU, are internationally known.

2. Contemporary Rome, Tormarancia murals

   • Tormarancia is a popular neighbourhood where famous artists painted 22 colourful full-height murals for the area's regeneration project.

3. Contemporary Rome , Garbatella murals

   • Garbatella in 2020, Garbatella celebrated her 100th birthday with two meaningful murals. One painted by Gomez represents hope for the future. The project to redevelop this area has been never-ending because since then, every year, some newly painted walls appear. During the walk, it is also possible to meet some artworks designed by four female artists to raise awareness of women's discrimination. A very original choice was to put these works in the public gardens.

4. Testaccio and the first mural anti-mog

   • Testaccio: The area is known for its nightlife, market, and the airy shape of the gasometer. 
   • Still, it is also where street artists have experimented for years with different techniques and subjects. Here, they used the smog-eating colour Airlite for the first time.
