Itinerary
-
Day 1: Tarangire National Park Adventure
- We will pick you up from your accommodation in Arusha and afterwards, proceed to Tarangire National Park.
- This is one of the largest national parks in Tanzania located in the Manyara region.
- This place is characterized by the large herds of elephants, tree-climbing lions, and the fascinating baobab trees, also called the Tree of Life for its almost mythical powers that some cultures attach to it.
- This park is especially known for the Tarangire River which flows all year round and is the only source of water for wild animals during dry seasons.
- After a whole day game drive, you will be transferred to Lake Manyara Kilimamoja Lodge in the evening for dinner, a warm shower, and an overnight stay.
-
Day 2: Exploring Lake Manyara
- After breakfast, we will drive to Lake Manyara via a Maasai village.
- The park derives its name from the Maasai word Manyara, which is the name for the plant Euphorbia tirucalli, a plant the Maasai people use to grow livestock stockades.
- Manyara produces a stock-proof hedge, which is very durable among other similar kinds.
- A specimen of Euphorbia tirucalli can be found at the entrance of the gate of the Great Rift Valley belonging to the faultline in the earth’s crust which stretches 8,000 kilometers (4,971 miles) from Turkey to the mouth of the Zambezi River in Mozambique.
- The fault is so massive that when astronauts landed on the moon the Rift Valley was visible to them.
- After a whole day game drive, you will be transferred to Ngorongoro Oldeani Mountain Lodge in the evening for dinner, a warm shower, and an overnight stay.
-
Day 3: Discovering Ngorongoro Crater
- After breakfast, we will leave for an early morning drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area for a game drive.
- This is another UNESCO World Heritage Site located west of Arusha in the crater highlands of Tanzania.
- This area is named after Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest caldera.
- The stunning landscape of Ngorongoro with its vast expanses of highland plains and concentration of wildlife of some 25,000 animals makes this place one of the most exotic natural wonders on earth.
- After a whole day game drive, you will be transferred to Ngorongoro Lions Paw in the evening for dinner, a warm shower, and an overnight stay.
-
Day 4: Serengeti Wildlife Safari
- After breakfast, we will drive to Serengeti National Park in Central Seronera.
- This park is well known for its healthy stock of resident wildlife, particularly the “Big Five” i.e. lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo.
- Central Serengeti is believed to hold the largest population of lions in Africa due in part to the abundance of prey species.
- More than 3,000 lions live in this ecosystem.
- African leopards are reclusive predators that are commonly seen in the Seronera region but they are present throughout the national park with a population of around 1,000.
- Serengeti is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to around 200,000 zebras, and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelles joining the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing.
- Listen to the exotic sounds of over 6 million hooves pounding the open plains of Serengeti just like how you imagined African wildlife to be.
- Late in the afternoon, you will go to Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge.
-
Day 5: Farewell to Serengeti, Return to Arusha
- After a good night’s sleep, this morning it’s departure time.
- After a last game drive, your vehicle will be taking you to the Seronera Airstrip for your flight back to Arusha Airport.
- After boarding the aircraft, your trip nears the end, but you can still peer out over the wings of the plane and enjoy the magnificent views while flying over Serengeti National Park.
- Admire the changing scenery of the Great Rift Valley.
- You will land at Arusha Airport with a camera full of pictures to share with friends and family and look back on the amazing memories created by your African endeavor!
