Description
The Great Serengeti Migration safari package is specifically tailored to maximize your chances of witnessing the Serengeti Wildebeest Migration. The itinerary we have created encompasses not only the Wagakuria area (the remote northern Serengeti National Park) and the Lobo area (the area north of the central Serengeti National Park), where most of the wildebeest migration typically occurs from August to October. Additionally, a visit to the renowned Ngorongoro Crater is included in the itinerary.
Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha to Karatu or Fly to Serengeti North (Kogatende Airstrip)
- After breakfast, you will be picked up,
- Optional 1– Driven to Arusha airport or Fly from Zanzibar Airport or Dar es Salaam Airport for a flight to Kogatende airstrip in Serengeti. After arrival proceed with a game drive in the North Serengeti wilderness area.
- Option 2– We will drive/ travel to Karatu Region, The Karatu District is one of seven districts of the Arusha Region of Tanzania. The district is bordered to the north by the Ngorongoro District and to the west by the Meatu District in the Simiyu Region.
Serengeti National Park is Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national park. A UNESCO World Heritage site and recently proclaimed the 7th wonder of the world, Serengeti is famed for its annual migration where some six million hooves pound the open plains. Serengeti offers an exotic game-viewing experience in the whole of Africa giving you an up-close look at the animals you’ve only seen in National Geographic: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands of elands, topi, kongoni, impala, and Grant’s gazelle.
- After the game drive, we will be transferred to the lodge for dinner and overnight, at Maramboi Tented Lodge in Karatu, or if you fly will overnight at Mara Mara Tented Lodge.

Day 2: Serengeti National Park (North-Kogatende)
- A full day of exploration in Serengeti North is waiting for you after an enjoyable breakfast at the camp. Take a look at the great migration and observe the local fauna, which includes a pride of up to thirty lions. Savor a hearty meal served by your knowledgeable driver guide or back at the camp. Then continue with your game drive.
- In the late afternoon head back to Mara Mara Tented Lodge for a delicious meal and a relaxing night.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park-Kogatende
- In the morning we have breakfast at the hotel and then will keep going to the Mara River crossing to continue their full day of observing migration, where the herds exhibit their amazing movements. Return to Mara Mara Tented Lodge for dinner and overnight, savoring the unique beauty and wildlife of the Serengeti.
Optional Activity,
Rise early for an unforgettable hot air balloon safari, followed by breakfast.

Day 4: Morning in Serengeti, Afternoon in Ngorongoro
- Today we wake up early and start the day with a beautiful sunrise game drive. There’s something truly magical about experiencing the African wilderness at sunrise, and a sunrise game drive is one of the best ways to do so. The early morning is an incredible time to spot some of the park’s most elusive and active wildlife, including lions, leopards, and hyenas. The cooler temperatures and softer light create the perfect conditions for a memorable safari adventure, as you journey through the park’s vast savannahs and grasslands.
- In the afternoon, it will be time to head to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the journey to the park is an adventure in itself, as you traverse winding roads through breathtaking scenery.
- In the evening you overnight at Melia in Ngorongoro.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
- This unique natural wonder is home to an incredible array of wildlife, from herds of grazing antelope to majestic lions and towering elephants. Journeying through the crater on a game drive, you will have the chance to spot some of the park’s most iconic species, including black rhinoceros, hippos, and wildebeest. Your experienced guide will share insights into the ecology of the region, as well as stories and facts about the fascinating behaviors of the park’s many species.
- The Ngorongoro Crater is a particularly special location for a game drive due to its enclosed nature. Surrounded by towering walls, the crater forms a natural amphitheater that makes it easy to spot a wide range of wildlife. You’ll travel through lush forests and open savannahs, taking in breathtaking views of the crater floor and its many inhabitants. As your safari adventure concludes in the afternoon, we will drive en route to Arusha for your flight back home.
- Alternatively, continue to your booked hotel for an overnight stay at Arusha.
