Kolkata - The Overview
- 0830 Hrs: Meet at the Hotel with a Briefing on the Tour. A short briefing about the tour will take place at the hotel.
- 0845 Hrs: Proceed to Flower Market - The Flower Market is an open-air market of fresh flowers located beside the Holy River Ganges. It opens early in the morning and closes at sunset.
- 0930 Hrs: Board Vehicle and Drive Over Howrah Bridge and New Bridge - Howrah Bridge is the first cantilever bridge on the River Ganges and the first cantilever bridge in India. The New Bridge is comparatively newer than the Howrah Bridge.
- 1000 Hrs: Visit Mother’s House (Headquarters of Missionaries of Charity) - Mother’s House is a holy place in Kolkata for people from all walks of life. It was the residence of Mother Teresa, who devoted her life to the poor. She is also cremated here. (Note: Closed on Thursdays)
- 1030 Hrs: Proceed to Jain Temple - The Jain Temple is dedicated to the followers of Jainism. It is known as the 'Jewelry Box of Kolkata' and is situated in the north of the city.
- 1145 Hrs: College Street & Coffee House - College Street is named for the famous colleges and universities along with the largest book market in Asia. Coffee House is a cultural hotspot on College Street.
- 1230 Hrs: Drive Through the Heritage Area of the City - Dalhousie Square, officially known as the Heritage Area of the city, hosts several heritage buildings. Notable ones include the General Post Office (GPO), Town Hall, Writer’s Building, and St. John’s Church (Closed on Sundays).
- 1315 Hrs - 1415 Hrs: Lunch Break
- 1430 Hrs: Visit Victoria Memorial (Closed on Mondays and National Holidays) - The Victoria Memorial is an impressive building constructed in memory of Queen Victoria. It was opened to the public in 1921.
- 1530 Hrs: St. Paul’s Cathedral - Built in 1847, St. Paul’s Cathedral is the first episcopal church in the east and is a replica of the Henry Tower of Canterbury Cathedral.
- 1600 Hrs: Drive to Riverside - The riverside is a beautiful place for an evening stroll, overlooking the two bridges on the Holy River Ganges.
- 1630 Hrs: Return to Hotel
