Tarangire National Park is a 2850 km² that lies 120 km south of Arusha. The "Home of the Elephants." There are breathtaking views of wide grasslands lined with baobab trees, undulating savannah and acacia woodlands, and lions, cheetahs, leopards, zebras, wildebeest, buffalos, and Maasai giraffes during wildlife drives. During the dry season, which runs from May to October, it's a great time to visit. Either way, even in the rainy season, you won't regret visiting beautiful park. You would witness more elephants than at any other time of year, which is a plus even though transportation could be more difficult!

Itinerary

Tarangire National Park

After being picked up from your Arusha town accommodation, have a game drive into Tarangire National Park. Savour all that the Park has to offer while touring through its breathtaking scenery, seeing a variety of wildlife, including ungulates, several bird species, and an abundance of Baobab trees that aren't found in other parks around. We will arrive at a picnic location after the first part of the game drive and eat from our lunch boxes.
Following lunch, we'll go on a wildlife drive along the well-known Tarangire River, which is the only source of water during the dry season. If we're lucky, we might witness elephants rolling in the mud or drinking water, as well as other creatures, including Buffaloes. Then, late in the afternoon, we'd drive back to Arusha. Drop off at your hotel for the end of your Day Tour.

The bread choice for the vegetarian usually contains rice on the side and is stuffed with onions, zucchini, tomatoes, and other veggies. There is also the choice of fruit, like bananas and juice.

The wet season, from November to May, brings lush green landscapes but may make some areas inaccessible due to muddy roads.

Guided Tours: It is highly recommended to book a guided tour or hire a knowledgeable driver-guide for your day trip to Tarangire National Park. They can provide valuable insights about the park, locate wildlife, and ensure your safety.

Time of Visit: The best time to visit Tarangire National Park is during the dry season when wildlife concentrations are at their peak. Early morning and late afternoon game drives are ideal for spotting animals as they are most active during these times.

Safety Precautions: While Tarangire is generally safe for visitors, it is essential to follow safety guidelines provided by your guide or park authorities. Stay inside your vehicle during game drives and avoid approaching or feeding wild animals.

What To Bring

Binoculars: A pair of binoculars will enhance your wildlife viewing experience, allowing you to observe animals in greater detail, especially those at a distance.

Camera and Extra Batteries: Tarangire National Park offers incredible photo opportunities, so be sure to bring a camera with extra batteries and memory cards to capture those memorable moments.

Sun Protection: The African sun can be intense, so pack sunscreen with a high SPF, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and lightweight clothing that covers your arms and legs.

Insect Repellent: Mosquitoes and other insects can be present in the park, particularly during the wet season. Apply insect repellent to protect yourself from bites.
