Description
We offer climbing Kazbek (5033m) – one of the highest and most beautiful peaks of the Caucasus Mountains. It is located in the eastern part of the Central Caucasus, in Georgia. Like Elbrus, Kazbek is also an extinct volcano, as evidenced by its conical shape with clear traces of an ancient giant crater. There are many fairy tales legendary, and interesting historical facts about this story. At an altitude of 3800m, in the cave, there is an entrance in the upper part of an 80-meter rock, and there is the ancient monastery of Betlemi (Bethlehem). In the chronicles of “Kartlis tskhovreba” this monastery is registered as a repository of shrines and church treasures. The monks of this monastery got to it along a long iron chain. Other legends date back to more distant times, when, after a quarrel in heaven over a stolen fire, Ptolemy was chained to a rock. This rock was located on Mount Kazbek. Kazbek is also known for the works of Mikhail Lermontov, “A Hero of Our Time” and “Mtsyri”. Climbing Kazbek is a great opportunity to test yourself!
