Description
Gjurishte is a low mountain located near Skopje. The mountain is covered with dense and diverse forest that captivates with its beauty. This mountain is rich in water, as evidenced by the many fountains and springs. The closest town to Gjurishte is St. Nikole. The paths pass through forest belts and connect several interesting places and localities. From the paths, there is a beautiful view of the valley of Ovche Pole but also much further to the surrounding mountains. In the past, there were several churches and monasteries in Gjurishte, but unfortunately only a few of them remain today. There are also interesting remains of walls, fortifications, towers and other buildings. The beautiful and restored monastery of St. Bogorodica is located on Gjurishte mountain and dates back to the 12th century. The monastery also has lodgings whose arrangement is in progress and can be spent in them overnight. The monastery is 58 km away from Skopje.

The Holy and Beautiful Mountain Gjurishte
First of all, we gather at the monastery of St. Bogoroditsa, and we start from the same place. We look at the monastery, which is located in a thick oak forest, and we start walking along a marked hiking trail. And we slowly climb through the forest. Not long, 500m away on the path itself, there is a healing oak with a small amount of visible water in its trunk. Locals and many other guests visit this oak and believe that it has healing power. Then, we continue along the path and past the Meteorological Station. We turn left and descend through beautiful nature, from which beautiful views are offered all around. Descending down the path, we come across a very old, interesting cemetery that is unknown from which period it originates, located on a wonderfully beautiful hill from where a rare beautiful view is offered to the picnic area of Bareš and the tame nature around. We slowly descend to the old fountain of Bareš and the picnic area of the same name, where the walk ends, and from there, we transfer by vehicle to the archaeological site of Bila Zora. After visiting this site, which is considered to have been the capital of the Payonians in ancient times, we are transported to the town of St. Nikolе and go on a common fellowship and lunch in a nice ethnic restaurant where the tour ends.
