- Visiting Petra: A Unique Experience
- Visiting Petra is an unquestionably one-of-a-kind experience. Designated as one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Petra was carved out of rocky formations in Jordan's southern desert by the Nabateans over 2000 years ago. Once the capital of the Nabatean Kingdom, this ancient city was rediscovered only 200 years ago by a Swedish explorer. Recent years have revealed more of the "Lost City" and its hidden treasures. Today, Petra stands as a National Park and the most renowned tourist site in Jordan. Exploring this landmark can take a few days, and the best way to discover its hidden gems is through our guided tours. While some visitors spend several days exploring Petra, the most popular option is a one or two-day visit.
- Wadi Rum: The Majestic Desert Landscape
- Wadi Rum is Jordan's largest 'wadi,' a dry valley. It features a diverse desert landscape with rugged red rock formations, as well as flat areas covered in sand or salt. Throughout history, various civilizations have inhabited the region, albeit in small numbers due to its challenging environment. Today, only a few Bedouin tribes reside in the area, primarily in Rum Village, the sole population center. Wadi Rum gained global recognition through the movie 'Lawrence of Arabia,' depicting the story of T.E. Lawrence during his service in Transjordan in World War II.
- Wadi Rum offers a range of activities within its desert expanse. While it lacks permanent structures or modern amenities, the area remains a popular tourist destination. Jeep safaris through the desert, like our Wadi Rum Jeep Safari Tour, are a major draw. Most jeep tours last around 2 hours and cover key highlights. Longer half-day, full-day, or multi-day options are also available. Many travelers opt to experience the local culture by spending a night in a Bedouin camp in Wadi Rum. Numerous camps dot the area, some basic with makeshift tents, while others offer Western-style comfort with cabins, en-suite rooms, swimming pools, dining facilities, and more. Our recommended choice is the Bedouin Experience Tour.
- Wadi Rum is also a prominent hiking destination, featuring various trails through the desert. Rock climbing enthusiasts are drawn to the area's challenges. For more adventurous souls, Wadi Rum offers activities like ATV rides, desert buggies, and hot air balloon rides. It's advisable to have a tour guide accompany you in Wadi Rum for the best experience.
