Itinerary
-
Luxor Museum and Mummification Museum
- Start the tour at the Luxor Museum in the Egyptian city of Luxor (Old Tiba). It is located on the Corniche, overlooking the West Bank of the Nile, in the central part of the city. Opened in 1975, the museum is housed in a small building built for this purpose. However, this was deliberate since the museum prides itself on the quality of the pieces it possesses, the undesirable way in which it is displayed, and the clear multi-lingual markup used.
- Then, proceed to the Mummification Museum in the Egyptian city of Luxor. It is located on the Corniche, opposite the Mena Palace Hotel, north of the Luxor Temple, overlooking the River Nile. The museum aims to provide visitors with an understanding of the art of ancient embalming. Ancient Egyptians applied mummification techniques to many species, not only to dead humans. Mummies of cats, fish, and crocodiles are displayed in this unique museum, where one can also get an idea of the tools used.
- Later, transfer back to your hotel in Luxor.
