Singapore's Civic District
- Meet the guide at the Raffles Place MRT Station.
- We will begin our tour with a walk down the banks of the Singapore River. Here, we will look at some cruise ships and take photos of the picturesque view- the guide knows its spot!
- Moving ahead, the guide will tell you about the colonial history of Singapore, alongside the role played by the British East India Company and the nutmeg spice.
- We will then witness the nearby Scotland-made bridge and the Fullerton Hotel, which used to be the biggest post office in Southeast Asia.
- The next leg of our tour will take us to admire the National Museum and the Victoria Theatre- did you know that the latter is modelled after the famous St. Paul Cathedral in London?
- We will walk past the Art House, the old Parliament House, and the National Gallery and go to an area where no buildings have been constructed since 1820!
- Here, behold the memorial to the Indian National Army, an Indian military wing that functioned in Southeast Asia during World War II and was particularly active in Singapore.
- We will now walk into a contrasting space, full of high rises and glittering lights, to catch a glimpse of Marina Bay, the Art and Science Museum, Sky Park, and the Convention Centre, and finally reach the Helix Bridge.
- We will admire the famous Merlion Fountain from the bridge and learn the story behind the name 'Singapore'. To end our tour, we will go to the magnificent Ferris wheel known as the 'Singapore Flyer' - the perfect place to say goodbye.
