Embark on a 3-day trek through the High Atlas Mountains from Marrakech, beginning with a transfer to Imlil village to meet your guide and mule team. Hike through picturesque valleys beneath Jebel Toubkal, enjoy lunch at the Tizi n' Tamatert pass, and continue through Berber villages with overnight stays in traditional gites. On the second day, trek through the Imnane Valley via Ikkiss and onward to Aït Aïssa. Finish with a scenic descent through the Tizi Mzik pass, lunch in Mzik village, and your return to Marrakech.

After breakfast, walk through the Imnane Valley, passing pine, juniper, and walnut groves, and stop for photos at Ikkiss, where you may also meet some villagers and learn about Berber life.

Day by day

The itinerary

Day 01

Marrakech to Imlil and Trek to Tinerhourhine

After pickup from your Marrakech hotel at about 8:30 am, travel by private vehicle south toward the High Atlas Mountains. After approximately 2 hours, arrive in the village of Imlil beneath the Atlas' highest peak, Jebel Toubkal.

Meet your guide and mule team, hire trekking poles (own expense) if required, and begin your trek once your luggage is loaded. Follow mule paths through lush valleys, passing gurgling streams and admiring the spectacular High Atlas peaks.

Pass the village of Tamatert and enjoy lunch in the cool Tizi n' Tamatert pass, at 7,477 feet (2,279 meters), before walking to Ouanesekra-Tamguist and the Berber village of Tinerhourhine.

Enjoy dinner and spend tonight in a gite.

Day 02

Imnane Valley Trek to Aït Aïssa via Ikkiss

After breakfast, walk through the Imnane Valley, passing pine, juniper, and walnut groves, and stop for photos at Ikkiss, where you may also meet some villagers and learn about Berber life.

Next, trek to Tizi n'Aguersioual, and after lunch at Matate at 6,562 feet (2,000 meters), continue to Aït Aïssa for dinner and an overnight stay at a gite.

Approximate walking time: 6-7 hours. Overnight: Gite in Aït Aïssa.

Day 03

Aït Assa to Imlil and Return to Marrakech

Following breakfast, leave for Tizi Oussem, admiring the stunning views from the Tizi Mzik pass at 7,874 feet (2,400 meters) before descending to Mzik village.

Savour lunch and return to Imlil for your ride back to Marrakech.

Approximate walking time: 4 hours. Your trip finishes with a drop-off at your Marrakesh hotel or agreed central location at around 6 pm.
