Learning the Ways of Amis Tribe in Hualien
- Meet the tour representative and start the tour, where we will arrange for a hunter-master to lead you into the mountains of Hualien. There are six different tribes in Hualien; the Amis tribe is a living museum. Our hunter-gather school lies deep in the mountain countryside, located 40 minutes' driving time, south of Hualien.
- Take time out from the 'technology era' and re-connect with nature. On this tour, you will engage in the following activities:
- Learn Amei tribe ethnobotany knowledge;
- Build a temporary shelter. Even a water container and rope are also useful items and can be made from plant materials;
- See demonstrations on how to make a trap to catch small birds or small animals from materials found in nature, such as twigs and leaves;
- Learn fire-making using natural materials without a lighter or match. Enjoy an Aboriginal-style lunch.
- Return to your place to end the tour.
