Explore the natural wonders of the Peruvian Amazon in the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve on this 4 days tour from Iquitos. Itinerary

Day 1: Iquitos - Nauta - Lodge
- Meet the tour guide, who will pick you up from the airport or hotel in Iquitos. (The tour departure time is from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.)
- Leave for the town of Nauta, via the highway, in a private car at 8:00 am. The ride takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, during which we pass many interesting places, small villages and communities, nature and a bridge going over the river Itaya.
- From Nauta, we take a 3-hour boat ride by a ‘peque-peque’ to our lodge. During this journey, we will see the union of the Marañon and Ucayali rivers, where we can appreciate the birth of the majestic Amazon river. Here, depending on the season, we can observe the mystical pink dolphins of the Amazon.
- Pass a small town of Puerto Miguel and head on to the union of Yarapa and Cumaceba creeks, where our lodge is located. Upon arrival, we will show you to your accommodation and give you a full tour of the lodge. You will enjoy a typical lunch with fruits of the region, according to the season.
- Take a canoe ride on Cumaceba creek in the evening for a chance to observe species of birds, monkeys and funny and curious sloths.
- Return to the lodge for a delicious dinner. After dinner, we take a night walk in the Amazon jungle to look for insects, batrachians, spiders, tarantulas and species of frogs.

Day 2: Jungle Walk - Puerto Miguel - Lodge
- Have breakfast, and we will take a walk in the primary jungle for another opportunity to see birds, monkeys and other wildlife like butterflies, termites and leaf-cutter ants. We will also look for medical plants, and your guide will explain the importance and different uses of these medicinal plants.
- For added fun, you can swing on the lianas, climb the roots and branches of the giant trees and drink water stored inside a branch of a tree. At midday, we enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by our excellent cook.
- Visit the small town of Puerto Miguel in the afternoon to learn about the customs and traditions of the inhabitants.
- Return to the lodge for dinner, and after dinner, we will take a canoe ride to look for the impressive caimans.

Day 3: Boat Ride - Fishing
- Have an early breakfast before going out on the boat and spending a full day cruising the lakes and creeks, looking for wildlife like monkeys, birds, snakes and sloths. Lunch will be served deep in the jungle before returning to our lodge in the afternoon.
- After dinner, our guide will demonstrate how to fish with a typical spear of the Loreto Region. We will also learn to identify the sounds of insects and nocturnal birds.

Day 4: Canoe Ride - Departure
- Give an early start to the day. We take a canoe ride at 6 am to look for different species of birds and fish for piranhas and other kinds of fish.
- Return to the lodge for breakfast and later visit a lake to see the great aquatic plant of the Amazon, the giant water lily pads.
- After lunch at the lodge, we return to Nauta by boat and back to Iquitos by car. (In Iquitos, we are normally at 6:00 pm, but if in case you have a flight before 6:00 pm, there is no problem. Let us know your flight schedule to leave for the airport two hours before your flight.)
