Itinerary

1. Day 1- Visit the El Alamein Museum

   • Meet your guide and drive to El Alamein (driving distance: 259 km). It takes 3 hours driving, and on the way, stop for a coffee break. (We recommend you take a packed lunch box with you.)
   • Visit the El Alamein Museum, which gives good information about the battle of El Alamein. The museum, about 1 mile west of the British memorial, is located on the north side of the road, for anyone interested in the war Memorabilia, the tombs of the Italians and Germans, and the Commonwealth war graves.
   • Drive to Siwa through Marsa Matrouh from El Alamein.

   Overnight in Siwa hotel.

2. Day 2- Explore the Siwa Oasis

   • Have breakfast and head out at 7:00 a.m. to visit Alexander the Great Temple, also known as the Temple of the Oracle. It is believed that Alexander the Great wished to consult the Siwan oracle to seek confirmation that he was the son of Zeus. 
   • Drive to the salt lake at 08:30 a.m. and get an amazing experience of swimming. The saltwater makes you float above.
   • Proceed to (Cleopatra's bath )The Spring of the Sun at 11:00 a.m. The legend maintains that Cleopatra swam here.
   • Visit the temple of Umm Ubaydah or Amun temple, just 200 m further from the Temple of the Oracle. The temple was erected by the pharaoh Nectanebo of the 30th Dynasty, and lastly, visit Gebel Al Mawta. Stop for lunch at Abdo restaurant around 12:00 p.m.
   • Head to the Great Sand Sea (by jeep 4x4) and see the hot and cold springs in Bir Waheed. 
   • Enjoy some traditional Bedouin tea by sunset and bbq dinner at night. Stay for the night in the desert camp. (You can also sleep in at nice ecolodges in Siwa, instead of a camp.)

3. Day 3- Head to the Shali Fort

   • Have breakfast at the camp at 07:00 a.m. and then drive back to Siwa Oasis.
   • Visit Shali Fort, and spend your free time shopping.
   • Drive to the Mountain of the Dead, a conical mountain a little over a kilometre to the north of Shali. Tombs from the twenty-sixth Dynasty, Ptolemaic, and the Roman periods are cut into the side of the mountain. There are four tombs worth seeing at Gebel Al - Mawta.
   • Head back to Cairo, passing by Marsa Matrouh.
