Watch the Tanoura show in Wekalet El Ghoury
- Meet the tour guide, drive to Wekalet El Ghoury and enjoy the famous Sufi art, the Tanoura show. The Islamic world has its own art, especially the Sufis. It is a kind of Islamic meditation, revolving into circles, like the plants, in the space with their customs ( weighted skirt full of colours). It conveys the meaning of Sufi, which is that they don’t care about life except for God. So, they keep turning around from the right and left with their hand up in the air signifying belief in the existence of one God, on the rhythm of Sufi music and songs which contain some of the oriental instruments, giving a perfect spirit. This is why we will watch the Tannoura show to experiment with this spirit, feel this mood, and transfer to a magical world. It is not a regular show. It happens in Wekalet El-Ghoury, an old house from the Mamelukes period opened for tourists to come and watch. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. (Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday ).
