5-Day Southern Vietnam Highlights Tour with Củ Chi and Mekong Delta

• When you arrive at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in the downtown area for an overnight stay.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

• After breakfast, you will enjoy a guided city tour starting with the Reunification Palace, the former Presidential Palace of the President of South Vietnam, followed by Notre Dame Cathedral and the Old Post Office, where you can take memorable photos of Vietnam's big, modern city.
• In the afternoon, continue to Chinatown to visit Thien Hau Temple, which was built in the early 19th century and dedicated to Thien Hau, the goddess of seafarers.
• Return to District 1 to visit Ben Thanh Market, with time for shopping.
• Later, drive back to the hotel at around 17:00.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

• After breakfast, you will drive for 2 hours to Tây Ninh, once the historical centre of the Cao Dai religion. Founded in 1926, Cao Dai is a combination of Buddhism, Christianity, Taoism, and Confucianism.
• At the Holy See Temple, you will have the chance to watch the worshippers in their long white tunics during the noon mass.
• In the afternoon, you will drive to the Củ Chi Tunnels, where you will visit the amazing network of underground tunnels used during the Vietnam War by the Viet Cong. This huge construction served as a habitation for villagers during wartime. With 3 levels of depth, it was never discovered by the US during the Vietnam War despite its proximity to Saigon.
• Visit the fighting tunnel system with your local guide. If you want some extra excitement, it is possible to fire a real AK 47 or M16 for a minimum of $12 USD for 10 bullets (optional).
• Return to Saigon, arriving around 17:30.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

• This morning, you will head south to Mỹ Tho, with a stop en route to visit Vĩnh Tràng pagoda.
• Transfer to Mỹ Tho Pier for a boat trip on the Tiền River, covering the areas of the four islands of Long, Lan, Qui, and Phung. Stop at Con Phung (Phoenix Island) to see the manufacture of handicrafts made from coconut trees.
• Continue to Thoi Son Island for a short visit to a coconut candy factory and savour this local speciality. You will also visit a local house to enjoy honey tea and fresh fruits while listening to traditional "Tai Tu" music - the lovely and romantic melody of one of the tribes in the Mekong Delta.
• Relax on a sampan ride through one of the small canals of the Mekong River.
• Return to Mỹ Tho Pier, where your private vehicle will take you back to Ho Chi Minh City for overnight accommodation.

• Transfer to Tan Son Nhat Airport for your departure flight.
