Itinerary
-
Day 1- Nairobi - Amboseli National Park
- 07:30 hrs. We will pick you up from your Nairobi Hotel, residence or the Nairobi airport.
- We’ll head out in your private 4 x 4 Jeep on the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway. This is a relaxing drive through the African savannah country, with local homesteads punctuating the vast plain. Watch for Maasai herders draped in their colourful wraps as they tend to their flocks.
- We should arrive at Amboseli National Park in the late morning.
- Entering the park, you can’t miss the wall of the mountain to the south – this is the legendary Mt. Kilimanjaro, known as the “roof of Africa”, rising to 19,000 feet. It’s the continent’s tallest peak and the highest free-standing mountain in the world.
- This is the backdrop to much of the park’s wildlife and is always a gift to photographers, so have your camera ready for the next three days.
- We’ll enjoy lunch at your accommodation and then head out for an afternoon game drive. Amboseli is known for its relative ease in wildlife spotting. All of Africa’s Big Five are here as well as zebra, giraffe, cheetah, warthog, ostrich and many more.
- Toward evening, the cloud cover obscuring Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped summit may clear, giving us one of Africa’s most striking vistas.
- We’ll enjoy the evening, our first of two in the park at your choice of safari lodge or tented camp.

Day 2- Amboseli National Park
- Wake up early while on safari to set an adventurous tone for the day. We’ll watch the light breaking upon the park and catch the wildlife as it appears on the savannah.
- Our next assignment: breakfast! And then another morning game drives through the park. One of the advantages of Amboseli is that the terrain is open with thin foliage, and this makes the game spotting easier.
- We’ll be watching for lion and leopard and the park’s almost ever-present grand parade of elephants. Seeing the magnificent elephants patrolling in line before the majesty of Kilimanjaro is a special treat of this reserve.
- Lunch at your accommodation is next and perhaps some relaxing time. The day is yours to pace as you want.
- Should you want to fill your day with unlimited game drives, your guide is available to make that happen as well.
- We’ll relax and spend our second and final night at the park.

Day 3- Amboseli - Nairobi
- Our final day in the park, and we want to squeeze in all the game viewing we can. We’ll start on a pre-breakfast safari and see who we can check off our list. Don’t forget to look for the smaller animals here like hyenas, foxes, jackals and monkeys.
- There’s also a colourful variety of rich birdlife in the park – pelican, kingfisher, egret and heron are found near the park’s marshes and lakes.
- We’ll enjoy one more Amboseli breakfast, with views of great Kilimanjaro and then a final game drive as we exit the reserve.
- It’s time for our drive back to Nairobi. It’s also a time to dwell upon all the wildlife we’ve seen and experienced over our 3-day safari.
- We’ll be back in town late afternoon and drop you off at your hotel, residence or airport.
- Amboseli is just one of Kenya’s many fine wildlife parks and reserves. We hope to see you again so we may show you more of our natural wonders. From all of us at Natural World Kenya Safaris, we thank you for your time and patronage.
