Sign up for this mountaineering safari to explore an extinct volcanic mountain-Mount Elgon, situated on the western border of Uganda and Kenya. Hike through the fertile slopes covered with rich altitudinal vegetation zones witness the majestic views of Dirigana Falls, Jackson’s summit, Wagagai Peak, and also the Sipi Falls.
Itinerary

Day 1- Entebbe - Budadiri
- Start the tour by driving to Budadiri in Eastern Uganda via the Kampala-Jinja highway.
- En-route; get an incredible view of Mabira Forest, extensive sugarcane plantations, Nile source, and other surrounding areas.
- Get to Budadiri (1250m) just close to Mount Elgon National Park gate to be briefed, assigned a guide, and have the required hiking gear.
- After that, start your navigation to accommodation relaxation, dinner, and have a night stay.

Day 2- Budadiri - Sasa River Camp
- Wake up, have your breakfast, pack your lunch, and at exact 06:30 am, meet with the park guides, who will then brief you about the mountaineering adventure and later ensure you have all that is needed before setting off for the hike. These guides will accompany you with porters and cooks.
- Start from Budadiri at an elevation of 1250m and follow Sasa Trail. During this hike, you will go through the community land of Masaba, and this gives you the chance to explore their farmlands, settlement, and cultures. Normally the tough climb starts at an elevation of about 1,600m which you will complete on your first day.
- Reach Sasa river camp, a camp for your overnight stay.

Day 3- Sasa River Camp - Mude Camp
- Vacate Sasa River Camp after a hefty breakfast. Hike to Mude Camp (3500m). This trail takes you 4-5 hours, and you will navigate via a forest.
- Reach Mude Cave campsite early to chill and have a night stay.
Overnight stay: Mude Cave Camp

Day 4- Wagagai Peak - Mude Cave Camp
- After your breakfast at 06:30 am, you will continue to hike through the Bamboo forest, which is the most significant part of this park.
- Afterwards, go to the Dirigana Falls and then continue through the Jackson’s Pool (4,050m) to the Wagagai Peak (4,321m), where you will descend into the vast 40Km2 caldera.
- Relax, take pictures and then transfer back following the Sasa trail. Here you will also climb the Jackson Summit at 4,165m.
- Reach Mude camp for an overnight stay.

Day 5- Budadiri - Entebbe
- After eating your breakfast at 06:30 am, head to Budadiri (1,250m).
- Reach Rose’s Last Chance Guest House, check-in, relax, have lunch, and after that, meet your driver-guide and transfer back to Entebbe Airport.
