Pergamum & Asklepion Tour
- Meet with your tour guide at the lobby of your hotel and set off to Pergamum.
- Arrive in Pergamum and examine the superior construction techniques of the Hellenic civilization with some Roman additions such as the Trajan Temple. As one of the seven churches addressed in the Book of Revelation, the city of Pergamum was the core of a vast kingdom in the Hellenistic era that maintained its status as a political and cultural leader into the Byzantine period.
- Proceed to the Asklepion and discover one of the earliest known medical complexes dedicated to the god of health, Asklepios, son of Apollo. The treatment techniques used by the famous doctor Galenos here, including healing water, mud cure, sports, theatre psychotherapy, are considered as the very foundations of modern medicine.
