Tour of the Old City of Jerusalem
- During this tour, immerse yourselves in the history, religion, sounds, smells and problems of Jerusalem. Visit some of the most important religious and historic sites of the Old City, after which we enter the parallel universe of the Ultra-Orthodox Jews.
- The highlights you will be visiting throughout this walking tour are:
- Jaffa Gate, which is the main tourist entry point to the Old City and one of the seven open gates of Jerusalem.
- 'Church of the Holy Sepulchre' is one of the most sacred Christian sites globally, as it is built on the site of Jesus' Crucifixion and burial. In previous times, it was known as the 'The Resurrection Church'.
- Roman Cardo, the excavated main Roman street in the Old City, originating at Damascus Gate and ending at Zion Gate.
- Hurva Synagogue considered the most important synagogue in Israel, symbolises the importance of preserving history for the Jewish people.
- Aish HaTorah Center, which is an orthodox Jewish educational organisation
- Western Wall- the most important religious site for Jewish people. Thousands of people visit here to offer prayers.
- Austrian Hospice - the most beautiful Christian guesthouse in Jerusalem.
- Damascus Gate, which is the entrance gate to the old city and which is flooded with small vendors
- Me'a She'arim, the Jewish Ultra-Orthodox neighbourhood populated by Haredi Jews. Observe the way residents are dressed here.
- Kidane Mehret Ethiopian Church, an Orthodox Christian church that represents Ethiopian religious architecture.
- Nahalat Shiva, a Jewish neighbourhood in the modern city with art galleries and small museums
- Ben Yehuda Street, famous for souvenir shops, delicious falafel and ice-cream parlours.
- Mahane Yehuda Market, known to be the largest market in Jerusalem with more than 250 vendors selling fruit, vegetables, spices, seeds, clothes and much more
- The tour will end in Jerusalem's modern city, where we will experience the regular life in this "anything but a regular" city.
