Get enthralled by one of the largest mountain ranges in the Simien Mountains National Park. Appreciate the impressive scenery, climb a series of dramatic cliffs and escarpments, interact with locals in Gich village as you enjoy a four-day guided hike through beautiful alpine meadows and rugged wilderness.
Itinerary

Day 1 : Gondar-Sankaber (3250 m)
Begin with a pick up from Gondar Airport/any other preferred location and transfer to the park headquarters in Debark.
Drive for another hour before you start the trek. The first hike is an easy one along the northern edge of the escarpment and plains of northern Ethiopia. Encounter gelada baboons along this hike. Overnight stay at Sankaber.

Day 2 : Sankaber – Gich (3600 m)
- Follow the northern escarpment eastward before descending into the Kaba Valley.
- Later, climb up before reaching Gich Abyss and continue over a narrow ridge to a cliff to enjoy a spectacular view of the abyss towards the Simien foothills.
- Proceed for about two hours and have lunch at the Jinbar River.
- After lunch, walk through the fields of barley before arriving at the idyllic village of Gich. Enjoy a traditional coffee ceremony in one of the huts and learn more about local farm life.
- From Gich village it is a short walk to Gich camp. After a relaxing afternoon, take a short hike up to Kedadit to enjoy the sunset and gorgeous shaded landscapes down to the cliffside towards the eastern direction. Return to the camp for dinner.

Day 3 : Gich – Chennek (3600 m)
Stroll through endless fields of Giant Lobelia before reaching the towering cliffs of Imet-Gogo (3926 m). Spend some time to absorb the superb views over the mountain valleys below.
Later, descend into the Jinbahir River Valley. The trail follows the edge of the escarpment, which is completely vertical here for several hundred meters.
Climb to a summit of 4070 m and have lunch. After lunch, descend to Chennek for about two hours along a steep trail.
Sit near the escarpment and try to spot Walia Ibex. Return to the camp for an overnight stay.

Day 4 : Chenek – Mount Bwahit
- Climb the second highest peak in the Simien mountains- Mount Buwahit (4430m). In addition to the scenic views of the surroundings, get a chance to see the highest mountain peak in Ethiopia Ras-Dejen (4543m).
- Later go back to Chenek Camp and drive back to Gondar (approx. 4 hrs drive).
