Day 01

Belgrade Fortress and Kalemegdan Park

  • Begin the walking tour at Kalemegdan, the park that surrounds Belgrade Fortress. This is the place where even the most distant past of the city comes into focus, and where Belgrade began as a human settlement a very long time ago. It is the most logical spot to start unfolding the unusual and exciting story of the "Crossroads of the Worlds."
  • Walk through the Stambol and Clock gates and enjoy the open-air exhibition of the Military Museum.
  • Proceed to the King's Tower and Zindan Gate, and visit the Rose Church of Our Lady.
  • Enjoy superb views of the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, New Belgrade, Zemun, and the Victor Monument, one of the symbols of the city.
  • Continue through the King's Gate and explore the rest of Kalemegdan Park, getting to know its various monuments.

Day 02

The Patriarchate, Cathedral, and Question Mark Inn

  • Leave Kalemegdan Park, passing by the beautiful Embassy of France and the Embassy of Austria as you walk along the pleasant streets.
  • Arrive at the Patriarchate of the Serbian Orthodox Church and St. Michael's Orthodox Cathedral, both dating back to the 19th century. Here, you will learn more about the religious traditions of the Serbian nation.
  • Enjoy a refreshment break in the '?' Inn, or the Question Mark Inn, Belgrade's oldest tavern, established in 1823 during the days of the Ottoman Empire. Here, you will have the chance to try traditionally made and served Turkish coffee in an authentic historical interior.

Day 03

Knez Mihajlova Street and Republic Square

  • Walk down Knez Mihajlova pedestrian street, by far the oldest street in Belgrade. According to scholars, it follows the central grid layout of the Roman city known as Singidunum, which existed almost 2,000 years ago. It features a large number of impressive buildings and mansions built in the 19th century and is protected by law as one of the most valuable landmarks of the city.
  • End the tour at Republic Square, the real heart of Belgrade, with the buildings of the National Theatre and National Museum, as well as the well-known equestrian statue of Prince Michael (Knez Mihajlo).
