- Kodaikanal Observatory
The Kodaikanal star observatory, situated at the southern tip of the Palani hills, is a small, vaulted white building that is as old as Kodaikanal itself. The walk to the observatory is scenic and delightful and those with a passion to check the celebrities, will visit the place to own a good time.
- Gundar Water Falls
At a distance of 41 km from Kodaikanal, 108 Kms from Coimbatore and 487 Kms from Chennai. Palani is one of the padi veedu for Lord Muruga and is an important pilgrim centre for Hindus.
Puranas have a story that Lord Muruga disappointed for Gnanapazham came here to stay alone. Lord Shiva & Goddess Uma Devi convinced him by saying that he itself is the fruit of knowledge (Gnanapazham) and called him Pazham Nee. Thus the town got its name 'Pazhani'.
The temple of Pazhaniandavar is situated in the Palani Hills at the height of about 1400 feet from sea level. From the temple prakaram one can see the Idumban Hill, the Kodaikanal Hills, the rivers flowing around Palani, the greenfields and even the Kurinjiandavar temple in Kodaikanal hills on a clear day.- Poombarai Village
Poombarai is a village located in the heart of the Palani hills of Tamil Nadu, India, 18 kilometres (11 mi) from Kodaikanal. Altitude is 1,920 meters (6,300 ft).
- Kuzhanthai Velappar Temple
The Kuzhanthai Velappar Temple (Kulandai Velayudha Swami Tirukkovil)[6] has three thousand years of history and was consecrated by his holiness Bhogar. The idol is made of Dasabashanam. This temple comes under Pazhani Devasthanam. Every year Poombarai celebrates the Ther Thiruvizha procession for Lord Murga. It falls on Kettai nakshatra which comes after Thaip Poosam. Normally in Thai or Maasi month.[citation needed]In poombarai village there is a temple of Lord Muruga 10/12 centuries When Bogar returned from China after completed the Palani andavar statue he built one more Navabashanam idol at mid of Palani and Poombari Western gates nowadays the place is called as Yanai Gejam. As per inscriptions in the temple which temple has built by the king of the Chera dynasty. There is a song-poem(Poombarai Velan) by Aruna Giri Nathar who lived during the 15th century while visited this temple this god has saved Arunagiri Nathar from one devil by acted as a Baby(Kulanthai), The peoples is trusting because of this incident only Poombarai Murugan has called as Kuzhanthai Velappar. The Poombarai Village is fully covered by Reserve forest. Also, some of the others trusting this idol are made up of Dasaphasanam which is Ten different herbals. And this abhishegam cures more diseases like cancer and sugar etc. By scientifically more 'Siddhar' lived around western-gates so this Temple location also Middle of western-gates only so we can confirm the stories of Bhogar idols.
- Mahalakshmi Temple
At the outskirts of poomparai village, there is a small temple of Mahalakshmi. More than for spiritual reason, the temple is popular for its scenic beauty.
