EXPLORE ZIPAQUIRA
To start this tour we pick you up at 8 a.m., we pick you up at your hotel or place of accommodation, and from there we take you to Zipaquirá and its famous Cathedral; Depending on traffic, the trip to Zipaquirá lasts between 60 and 90 minutes.
During this journey, you will have the opportunity to observe different places such as the north highway in Bogotá; you will pass through the Marroquín Castle and the town of Chía.
We will accompany you to the entrance of the salt mine where the visit to the Cathedral begins. The tour is done through an audio guide with seven different languages to choose from Spanish, English, Italian, German, French, Portuguese and Mandarin.
The tour inside the Salt Cathedral lasts around two hours, and you will have the opportunity to visit:
• Nucuma Short Film: Short film that lasts approx. 15 min, in which they can observe a summary of the salt deposit's geological formation, the levels of exploitation and the entire structure of the mine.
• Light show: It is the largest screen of led light bulbs in the world under the ground, where they will hear and see the mythological history of our indigenous Muiscas.
• Water Mirror: Generates an optical illusion by the salt crystals found in the water.
• Huellas de Sal Walk: A tour of the historic center is carried out, with a guide, and the most emblematic places of Zipaquirá are viewed. Within this tour, the Quevedo Zornoza Museum is visited, where they will know about the cultural development of Zipaquirá, ancestral information (indigenous people who inhabited), history of Zipaquirá, the generations that lived there, and finally the life of Guillermo Quevedo Sornoza. He was a teacher and influenced the life of Gabriel García Márquez when he studied at the Salle de Zipaquirá.
Upon returning to the surface, you will enjoy a typical Colombian lunch in one of the best restaurants in Zipaquirá. You can make your choice between different dishes traditionally prepared on the fire; you can choose a dish with delicious meat prepared a la Llanera or a vegetarian dish.
After lunch from the center of Zipaquirá, we drive back to Bogotá and drop you off at your hotel or the place of your choice.
