Itinerary

1. Day 1: Arrival in Kandy & Sightseeing in Sigiriya

   • Pick up before 8.00 a.m. from your residence in Kandy and drive straight to Sri Muththu Mari Amman (kovil) Hindu temple, the tallest and the most colourful Hindu temple of the country.
   • Move to Dambulla cave temple, the largest and the best-preserved cave temple in Sri Lanka. The caves were converted into a temple complex by king Walagamba during the 1st century. There are about 153 buddha statues and murals, which covers 2100 square meters. You have to spend around one and a half hours to cover the entire temple complex.
   • In the evening, visit the eight wonder of the world, which contains huge walls, water canals, security guard rooms, natural stoned arches, mirror stone and world-famous Sigiri paintings. It is an isolated rock, Kingdom more than 200m in height. 

   Stay overnight in Sigiriya.

2. Day 2: Visit the Ancient Kingdom of Polonnaruwa

   • Visit Polonnaruwa, the ex-capital of Sri Lanka for about 200 years, finally transferred to Dambadeniya and Polonnaruwa, concored by Indian king Kalinga Magha. Visit the archaeological museum, royal palace, audience hall, swimming pool, sacred quadrangle, shiva devale, pabalu Vehera, rankot vihara, Kiri Vihara, buddha statue at lankatilaka, buddha figures at gal vihara etc. It usually takes 5-6 hours to visit the entire kingdom in Polonnaruwa. 
   • After seeing Polonnaruwa, you will be dropped-off in Kandy.
