The itinerary

Day 01

Iquitos to the Yarapa Basin

  • Be received at the airport by your private guide and transfer from Iquitos to Nauta by car (115 km).
  • Attend a brief orientation and learn about the city of Nauta before setting sail.
  • Navigate along the Marañón and Ucayali rivers, and see the junction where the Amazon River is formed.
  • Continue sailing to the Yarapa River basin, an unforgettable experience in one of the most biodiverse areas on the planet. Enjoy lunch on the banks of the river with the splendid landscape.
  • Camp in the heart of the jungle and learn survival techniques.
  • Enjoy dinner and head out for a night excursion in the jungle to look for tarantulas, amphibians, and reptiles.

Day 02

Sunrise Canoeing and Jungle Exploration

  • Wake up early and enjoy canoeing, birdwatching, and spotting monkeys.
  • Enjoy breakfast at the itinerant camp and then walk through the jungle to see a wide variety of flora and fauna. Spot giant trees such as Lupuna, Capirona, and Capinurí, as well as birds such as the toucan, macaw, parrots, Great White Heron, and kingfisher, along with monkeys, pichicos, and the lazy bear.
  • Have lunch at the itinerant camp and then navigate on the Yarapa River in search of grey or pink dolphins, with the possibility of swimming with them in their habitat.
  • After dinner, set out on a night excursion in a canoe to look for alligators in their habitat and listen to the sounds of the jungle.

Day 03

Artisanal Fishing on the Yarapa River

  • Have breakfast at the camp and get ready for the artisanal fishing tour on the Yarapa River.
  • Learn the traditional way of fishing for piranhas or other species.
  • Enjoy lunch on the banks of the river with the splendid landscape.
  • In the afternoon, visit a lake to search for herons and other tropical bird species.
  • Wait for the sunset, then get ready for your night canoe tour to look for alligators in their habitat.
  • Enjoy dinner and retire for the day.

Day 04

Monkey Island Visit and Return to Iquitos

  • Get ready to leave the camp, and during the return trip, make a stop on Monkey Island, where you can see several monkey species.
  • After lunch, cross the Marañón and Ucayali rivers, which shape the majestic body of the Amazon River.
  • Get ready for the return to the city of Nauta and the land transfer to Iquitos.
  • At 5 pm, transfer to your hotel or, if appropriate, to the airport at the appropriate time.
