On reaching your destination, learn about each of the two rock-cut temples on the complex:
First, visit the Temple of Ramses II built to symbolise power and pride in honour of the King Pharaoh's victories. The temple has been designed in such a way that the statues inside are lit up by sunlight twice every year: on Ramses' birth and coronation days.
Then, head to the Queen Nefertari Temple. Smaller of the two, this temple is believed to have been built to honour Queen Nefertari and Ramses' children.
