Kochi to Kumbalangi Village
Get picked up from Kochi Port at 09:30 am, meet with a representative, and transfer to Kumbalangi village.
Arrive and meet with the local guide and start to explore Kumbalangi village.
Observe coir making; coir is made in the traditional way in which ripe coconut husks are soaked in water. Coconut leaves are weaved by village women and watching them doing it with great expertise in a very relaxed, cool and jovial manner is really interesting.
Learn about crab farming, crabs are exported live. On the Island, there is a well-maintained crab farm where the fattening of the crabs is naturally done.
Soak up knowledge of basket making; it is a dying art since only a few craftsmen know how to make traditional baskets which were also used by the villagers over here to separate clam meat and shell.
Visit the Fishing Farm, learn about clam meat processing, fishing with chinese nets, and toddy tapping.
Enjoy boat riding and birdwatching.
Eat delicious Kerala dishes for lunch with local seafood.
Transfer to Kochi Port to board the ship as per your time schedule.
